Monument

The definition of the word ‘monument’ is: ‘a structure built to remember an event in history.’ It comes from the Latin “monumentum” derived from the word moneo, monere, which means ‘to remind’ or ‘to warn.’ Lisa wants to leave the deeper meaning open to the viewer, but the origins of the concept is an expression of her own climate anxiety and emotional response to the impact of climate change. The future of the planet and the wildlife and humans living here.

The internal and external structure are made entirely from paper and it’s the most varied use of paper stock and techniques Lisa has used in one piece of work. It took approximately 80 hours to make.

All paper used is Fedrigoni FSC certified paper, made with ECF pulp with light fast pigments. Acid free, Longlife ISO 9001.

Special thanks to Fedrigoni for providing paper from their Sirio pearl range.
