Medellín

Lisa was commissioned privately to create a chrysalis for a wonderful man in Colombia named Saul; who wanted a chrysalis for his wife.
The work is titled Medellín because they got married there in a Finca in the Colombian countryside, one year ago.

Hidden within the chrysalis are the couple’s wedding vows. They are written in Spanish which made it even more romantic for me; as I needed to translate the words to create the work. Saul had seen an experiment with Mulberry paper that Lisa had posted on Instagram and had fallen in love with it’s natural quality, so it was the perfect choice.

The chrysalis is made entirely from paper. The mulberry paper was glued to a stiffer card to give the form stability and longevity.
