Acropora
While researching reference images of fish for this series, Lisa came across a lot of images of bleached coral - inspiring this piece ‘Acropora.’
When bleached, coral reveals it’s underlying white calcium carbonate skeleton, and it can die very quickly if the balance of it’s habitat isn’t restored.
Lisa was struck by the fragility and intricate beauty of this coral and wanted to represent the fish and other marine life that rely on it for survival.
The work is made entirely from paper and card, including the internal structure and external textures.
It took approximately150 hours to make.
